The asynchronous three-phase motor, invented by Galileo Ferraris in the end of seventeenth century, is an induction motor, characterized by a special winding on the stator which is able to generate a rotating field. This field generates another one on the rotor. The velocities of the two are a little bit different; this gap is called “slip”.

The asynchronous three-phase motor is an induction motor, characterized by a special winding on the stator which is able to generate a rotating field whose velocity is represented by the result of this formula: Frequency [Hz]*60/couples of poles (3000 rotations/minute for 2poles at 50Hz). This field generates another one on the rotor whose speed moves a little bit away from the stator one; this gap is called “slip” and it’s minimally proportional to the requested couple. In that way , depending on the number of poles we’ll have an electric motor with fixed speed. The asynchronous three-phases motor was invented by Galileo Ferraris in the end of seventeenth century. Star / delta starting

The star / delta starting is the most used form of reduced voltage starting. At the beginning the motor is powered by the star connection of the stator’s windings. When the nominal velocity is almost reached , the switching to the delta connection occurs. The star – delta starting reduces the starting current and the starting torque of the 67% compared with a direct starter .In this specific phase, however, a current peak occurs which produces a sudden mechanical jerk. So, considering this, a motor’s stator equipped with double way (star/delta) connectable windings is required. All motors can be connected in both star “Y” and delta “Δ” ways. We’ll also have a double rated voltage depending on the connection: 230V for Δ and 400V for Y, or 400V for Δ and 690 for Y.

Construction features and accessorizes

The whole range includes low power motors, 0.18 kW, medium voltage motors, motors with size up to 700 and special executions. ThermAll, provides Marelli electrical motors painted for aggressive environments, execution for humid environments equipped with PTC, PT100, klicson and anti-condensation heaters. We also produce inverter execution which provides a special insulation, in addition to the servo-ventilation.
